Carriages For Sale: 14 listings. E-mail
Most of these carriages are proudly offered by a good and trusted friend who is a long-time carriage importer, trader, and expert, as well as a driver/trainer himself, originally from The Netherlands, emigrated to Canada, and now resides in Illinois, but there are also some carts from a friend in Texas and in The Netherlands. The IL carriage expert is a reliable sales person who puts fair prices on good products. He does not have a website and so we put the carts up on our site. The other listings are private buys from good friends. Feel free to ask for more details, information or specific carriage requests. We will gladly put you in touch with The Carriage Expert! 12&13C. Two authentic Friesian carriages from Holland. E-mail.
These two carriages are from Anneke's childhood back in The Netherlands. The dam and grand dam of my mare were driven with these carriages for leisure rides, weddings, and festivities. Anneke remembers the rides in them well. They are in perfect shape, fully restored from an already good, authentic state when they were purchased by our friends back in the early '80s, gently used by them, and they have been stored carefully and covered indoors. Sadly the owner of the carriages passed away early 2002 and the carriages have been in storage ever since. Now it's time to put them on the market. Both were driven pair and single and each comes with shafts but there is only one pole that was used interchangeably. The closed carriage fits up to 3 adults on the back inside seat, 2 adults and 1 child in the front inside seat, and 2 in the front. The two front wheels of the closed carriage are still in good shape but the wood frame inside the metal hoops will need some work at some point. All wheels have metal hoops. The asking price per carriage is 2,900 euro plus shipping. Located in The Netherlands. Many more, detailed, pictures available by e-mail.

"Kerkbrik"

Siamese Phaeton

The olden days-the history of these two carriages, by Anneke.

Back in 1981, I started riding Sanne's ster grand dam Petra/Pitie (s. Ritske 272 pref) through town bareback and with a driving bridle, because I didn't have tack yet. At the time riding Friesians was laughed at. Here we are in our driveway. Then you see me on my very first carriage ride with Petra in 1982, in my old street where I grew up with the first carriage, the "Kerkbrik." In the 3rd picture I'm riding the then 2 year old dam of my Sanne, 1983 1st premie youth champion, later ster, Alice (s. Lammert 260). The craze was short hair and I had just cut off all my hair! Did I ever regret that and I haven't cut it since.

Then three newspaper pictures: Petra with Saint Nicholas in 1984, Alice on a wedding drive, Petra with her owner, and below the Phaeton that was purchased shortly after the Kerkbrik, here still unrestored. First Petra and Alice with the Phaeton at a local, annual castle drive in 1984 (Castle Vorden), then a local town celebration with Alice and her ster daughter Lotte later in the '80s.

Alice and Petra were my world in the 1980s and shaped my teenage years. The owners told me that when I stopped coming over for Alice and Petra they waited for me in the corner of their pasture for two weeks! I had switched to training KWPN warmbloods for a few years, which gave me great experience but I remained involved with the Friesians and it's no wonder I returned to the breed full force shortly after, because if it's not a Friesian it's just a horse! A Thank You to my mom and dad (picture right back in 1997 with my Sanne shortly before she left for the U.S.) and the Beerten family for putting up with and supporting my craze that has become my life-long passion.

Saddle Recommendations for Friesians E-mail
True craftsmanship, fit, and comfort for a lifetime!
  • For custom saddles we recommend the Levade and the new Ambassador saddle for Friesians. The Levade already is a popular model for dressage riders. The Ambassador saddle is new on the market and was developed specifically for the Friesian-type back. The tree is very flat with a wider spinal clearance, and the shoulder area has nicely "quilted" pattern for maximum comfort. Some of the problem areas addressed: enough clearance at the shoulder to allow freedom of movement, panel style that conforms to the horse's back and won't "pop up and down" at the cantle, billeting system that follows the girth line so the saddle doesn't slide forward, and trees that are not too curved to cause pressure points in the lumbar area. The saddle is also superior in rider comfort. It supports a proper seat and has great knee rolls.
  • Click here if you would like more information on the Levade and Ambassador saddle and for references from satisfied, experienced dressage riders and Friesian owners.

Friesian gelding Sjolling (Brandus 345 x Tamme 276) at the 2005 Championship, He is ridden by his trainer Christy Raisbeck who rides in an Ambassador saddle. Sjolling ranked 2nd in the nation at USDF Musical Freestyle at 3rd Level in 2005 and was also the ABIC 3rd Level Freestyle Champion for 2005.

Trainer Jill B. in CA on her Friesian. She won Reserve Grand Champion at 2nd Level at the CDS Championships this fall riding in the Ambassador saddle and loves it! Jill riding in her Ambassador saddle won the FHANA President's Trophy 2008 and won in the FHANA Dressage awards with the highest score of 2890!

"How can I ever thank you enough for providing me with the BEST saddles ever for my Friesian horses, two of which are now Saddle Seat Friesian World Champions, Reserve Champions, Jr. Exhibitor Friesian World Champion, and Hunt Seat Friesian World Reserve Champion! The moment I saw Candace Frazer with one of your saddles in Topsfield, MA in 2006, I told my trainer "This is the saddle I have been looking for the past two years - get it!"  I now own 8-10 of your saddles and I believe them to be the best in today's market for the needs of Friesians. Micaela, MA.

I just wanted to tell you… I had Bob C. come to flock my saddle.  First thing he said was “it fits your horse very well”. He added some flocking to the front and said I shouldn’t have to do any more other than the normal yearly checks. But, he really looked it all over, touched the leather, and said he was impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of the saddle. He really liked it! He asked who made it (course I gave him your name and showed him my saddle cover). I told him the tree was made for Friesians with straight backs and that I tried many regular tree saddles of which just were terrible on my gelding. He said he knew that other trees would not work too.  Super cudos for you!!  I felt great too, that he really liked it and that it was perfect.  Oh, he also said he really liked the knee rolls.  Bob has been selling saddles for 30 years! Sally, TX.

Congratulations to Kimberly, Paula, MacKenzi, and Sally for finding their saddle through Anneke's Friesians.

For the dressage lovers:

The Ambassador saddle

The Ambassador Designer edition

The Ambassador Designer Edition saddle is like no other saddle on the market today! Not only is this saddle as functional as the Traditional Ambassador with respect to ridability and fit, the sheer craftsmanship is beyond compare from the original artwork design, hand-tooled Friesian head pattern in the flap, rhinestone enhanced eye and 3-D horse image in the knee pad! The panel of the saddle is completely quilted for maximum comfort for your horse.

Levade

For amazing, custom made, designer saddle pads click here.

We gladly help you with fittings and a test saddle nationwide!

For the saddle-seat enthusiasts:

The Royale

This saddle is a cutback saddle made specifically for the saddle-seat discipline. The sample in this picture is a Dark Havana with the seat made in Elk (for grip) and the flaps are made of (Buffalo) which looks quite elegant. The saddle also has a deeper seat which is more "Equitation" style but it can be made flat if that is more to your liking. The Royale saddle can be made totally custom; made to your horse's wither tracing, black, even put a red welt line around the seat if you use a black & red bridle for example. Leather choices are custom to: everything is optional!

Thank you for entering the summer 2006 contest and helping to name the new Friesian saddle! The contest gave away a $200 gift certificate for English tack and apparel and a feature page of choice online for six months has been to Kimberly in New York. The winning name is: Ambassador! Congratulations, Kimberly!
